BuyWhatFits answers one question: which home charger a given electric vehicle can actually use. Most buyers overspend, because a charger can only deliver as much power as the car's onboard charger will accept. Past that point a bigger unit costs more and charges no faster.
Where the numbers come from
Range, efficiency and charge-time figures are derived from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's fuel economy dataset, published at fueleconomy.gov and in the public domain. Maximum AC onboard charger ratings are compiled from manufacturer specifications and reference sources; each one is checked against a published source before any page using it goes live.
Electrical requirements follow the National Electrical Code, which sizes a circuit at 125% of a continuous load. That is why a 48 A charger is listed as needing a 60 A breaker.
What this site does not do
We do not test vehicles or chargers, and we make no claim to have used the products listed. Every figure is calculated from published data, and the calculation is described on each page so you can check it.
We do not display prices. Prices change constantly and a stale one is worse than none, so product links go to the live Amazon listing instead.
