What home charger does the Cadillac Celestiq need?
| Model years | Trims | Charger | Breaker |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-2026 | all trims | 80 A | 100 A |
The Cadillac Celestiq is one of the few cars that can use an 80 A home charger, and it needs one on a 100 A breaker to charge at full speed. Both the 2025 and 2026 cars accept 19.2 kW.
Why 80 amps and not more
At 80 A the Celestiq adds about 46 miles of range per hour, noticeably quicker than most electric cars manage at home, and no home unit can push it past 19.2 kW. If the house can't take a 100 A circuit, a 48 A charger on a 60 A breaker still works, at about 28 miles of range per hour.
Charging time by model year
| Year | EPA range | Level 2, miles per hour | Level 2, empty to full | 120 V, miles per hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 303 mi | 46 | 6.6 h | 3.5 |
| 2025 | 303 mi | 46 | 6.6 h | 3.5 |
Level 2 figures assume a charger that supplies the car's full rate. Where a year shows a range, it spans that year's trims.
Nothing changed between the 2025 and 2026 cars. Each has 303 miles of range and fills from empty in about 6.6 hours at 80 A, so a used 2025 needs exactly the setup a new 2026 does.
What it costs to charge at home
At the U.S. average residential rate of 18.19¢ per kWh, the 2026 Cadillac Celestiq costs 7.6¢ a mile to charge at home. A full charge from empty comes to about $23, and 37 miles a day to about $85 a month. EPA measures energy use at the wall, so the energy lost while charging is already counted. Rates run from 12.36¢ in North Dakota to 46.28¢ in Hawaii, and the cost guide has every state.
What the install involves
A 100 A circuit is a serious addition to a house. Many homes don't have that much room in the panel, so the electrician's load calculation comes first. Expect a heavier run of copper than a typical charger circuit uses, too. The charger is hardwired, and if the service is short, a 48 A setup or a charger turned down to fit is the practical fallback.
- 80 A charger: 100 A breaker, hardwired only.
- Dryer outlet: a 4-prong NEMA 14-30 on a 30 A breaker can run a 24 A charger. That adds about 14 miles of range per hour to the 2026 Cadillac Celestiq, or 140 in a 10-hour night. What to check first.
- Charge port: J1772. From 2025 the industry is moving to the NACS port, and makers switch at different times. Some of these cars have a J1772 port and some have NACS with an adapter, so look at the port on your own car before choosing a charger's plug.

Common questions
- What breaker does a Cadillac Celestiq charger need?
- A 100 A breaker for an 80 A charger, or a 60 A breaker if you settle for 48 A.
- Can the Cadillac Celestiq charge on a NEMA 14-50 outlet?
- Not at full speed. The 80 A charger must be hardwired, and so must the 48 A fallback.
- How long does a Cadillac Celestiq take to charge at home?
- About 6.6 hours from empty on an 80 A charger.
- Is 120 V charging realistic for a Cadillac Celestiq?
- Only in a pinch. It adds about 3.5 miles of range per hour.
