What home charger does the Tesla Cybertruck need?

What to buy, 2025-2026
A 48 A charger on a 60 A circuit
Every Tesla Cybertruck from 2025 to 2026 accepts at most 11.5 kW (48 A) of AC power, whatever the trim. A bigger charger will not charge it any faster.

The Tesla Cybertruck takes a 48 A charger on a 60 A breaker. Its onboard charger accepts 11.5 kW on AC, and a 48 A unit such as Tesla's own Wall Connector delivers all of it.

Why 48 amps and not more

A heavy truck with a big battery adds only 27 to 28 miles of range per hour even at 48 A, but no home charger can beat that, since the truck caps its own intake. A 40 A unit drops a 2026 to 22 miles per hour.

2026325 to 335 mi2712.6 h3.3
2025325 to 335 mi2811.9 h3.5

Level 2 figures assume a charger that supplies the car's full rate. Where a year shows a range, it spans that year's trims.

The 2025 truck fills from empty in about 11.9 hours, and the 2026 in about 12.6 hours, with 325 to 335 miles of range. Those are long charges, which is why most owners plug in every night rather than waiting for a low battery.

What it costs to charge at home

At the U.S. average residential rate of 18.19¢ per kWh, the 2026 Tesla Cybertruck costs 7.8 to 7.9¢ a mile to charge at home. A full charge from empty comes to about $25 to $26, and 37 miles a day to about $88 to $89 a month. EPA measures energy use at the wall, so the energy lost while charging is already counted. Rates run from 12.36¢ in North Dakota to 46.28¢ in Hawaii, and the cost guide has every state.

What the install involves

The Cybertruck uses Tesla's NACS port, so a NACS charger plugs straight in. The circuit is a 60 A breaker with the charger hardwired, since no household receptacle is rated for 48 A. If the panel can't take that, a 40 A charger on a NEMA 14-50 outlet and a 50 A breaker is the usual compromise.
